Our Story.

It Started With One Person — and a Lot of Love

36 Paws Rescue didn’t begin with a building, a staff, or a big budget.

It began with one person, Shannon, and an unwavering belief that animals deserve safety, dignity, and a chance, even when the system fails them.

What started as helping “just one more animal” slowly grew into something much bigger.

The Reality Behind the Rescue

What began as individual acts of compassion evolved into emergency intakes, medical cases, long nights, foster coordination, transport runs, vet visits, bottle babies, end-of-life care — and the emotional weight that comes with loving animals who have been let down far too many times.

Day to day, Shannon manages every aspect of the rescue — from intake requests and medical care to foster placements, adoptions, and follow-ups — while also absorbing the financial reality when funding falls short. Vet bills, supplies, transportation, and emergency care don’t pause, and many of these costs have been carried personally to ensure animals receive immediate care.

There was never a grand plan or formal structure.

There was simply a refusal to look away.

Looking Ahead

36 Paws Rescue exists for animals who need time, patience, and a safe place to land before finding their forever home. While the rescue may be small, the impact is real — measured in lives saved and second chances given.

As the rescue continues, support from the community becomes essential to ensure this work can continue sustainably. Whether through fostering, adopting, donating, or sharing — every bit of support helps carry the mission forward.
